
About Shakira Millar
Shakira Millar is a behavior therapist and co-founder of Behavior Change LLC, based in Pembroke Pines, Florida. With over a decade of experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), she is committed to helping children with developmental disorders, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), overcome challenges and reach their full potential. Shakira’s therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, compassion, and a deep desire to improve the quality of life for her clients and their families.
Born on May 6, 1986, in Barbados, Shakira began her educational journey at Lakefield College School in Ontario, Canada. Initially aspiring to become a veterinarian, she began her undergraduate studies at the University of Guelph. However, after experiencing life-changing events, she shifted her focus to child development and ABA therapy. Shakira went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Studies from Walden University. She also completed her certification in Behavior Analysis from the Florida Institute of Technology and is currently preparing to take the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) exam.
Shakira’s career has been shaped by her work with various agencies, where she gained valuable experience and developed her expertise in ABA therapy. In 2019, she co-founded Behavior Change LLC, where she leads efforts to provide personalized, evidence-based therapy to children and families. Her work is focused on creating individualized plans that meet the unique needs of each child, helping them achieve significant developmental milestones.
Shakira is known for her commitment to continuous learning and growth, both personally and professionally. She balances her career with family life and finds solace in spending time outdoors, which helps her recharge and maintain her dedication to her clients. Her goal is to continue making a lasting impact in the field of ABA therapy, helping children thrive and reach their full potential.
